Wendy Webber from children’s charity Mentor Link paid a special visit to Greatfield Park Primary School on Tuesday, meeting pupils who are set to receive support from the charity’s dedicated Volunteer Mentors.
Greatfield Park Primary School is one of many schools working closely with Mentor Link to support children experiencing challenges such as anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, and difficulties with friendships or family relationships. The charity also delivers an EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance) project, helping children who are struggling to attend school regularly or fully engage in their education.
During her visit, Wendy spent time getting to know the children who will soon begin their mentoring journeys.
“It was great meeting with the children today and getting to know them a bit better, so I can carefully match them with our trained Volunteer Mentors to find the right mentor to suit each child’s interests and personality,” she said.
All Volunteer Mentors at Mentor Link are DBS vetted and receive introductory and safeguarding training. They also benefit from ongoing training and professional support from the Educational Psychology Team at Worcestershire Children First, ensuring that every child receives high-quality, consistent support.
With more than 24 years of experience providing dedicated mentoring services in schools, Mentor Link has built a strong reputation for helping children rebuild confidence, improve self-esteem and re-engage with learning. The charity currently works in partnership with over 80 schools across the Midlands and is continuing to expand its reach throughout Gloucestershire.
The core aim of Mentor Link is to provide regular one-to-one support from professionally recruited and trained mentors, helping children to thrive both emotionally and academically.
