A brand new surface will be laid on the main road through Lydney this month.
The improvement work will see 500 tonnes of new material put down along Newerne Street creating a smoother and safer road surface for future journeys in 2015 and beyond.
To minimise disruption the work will take place on Sundays only, viagra beginning on Sunday 11th January, and will be complete by Sunday 1st February.
The street will be open to pedestrians and the shops will be open as usual, however, it will be necessary to close the road to traffic each Sunday from 7:30am until 7pm at the junction with Forest Road and Swan Road up to the junction with Hams Road.
A diversion will be in place via Highfield Road and the A48 Lydney bypass. Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles.
For the safety of the travelling public, and the workforce, parking will not be permitted along Newerne Street while the work is taking place. Residents and drivers are asked to be patient during the short period of disruption.
Cllr Vernon Smith, Cabinet member for highways and flood said, “I’d like to thank Lydney residents, businesses and shoppers in advance for their patience while we carry out these priority improvements. I’m sure everyone will be pleased with the final result once the work is complete.”
Local county councillor Alan Preest said, “Local people have been looking forward to this new surface for Lydney’s Newerne Street. Road crews will be working on Sundays to minimise disruption and it won’t be long before we have a safer and smoother route through town.”
