Police have closed an investigation into an allegation that a child was assaulted by a member of staff at a Barnwood nursery, confirming no further action will be taken.

Gloucestershire Police said CCTV footage of the incident at Partou Barnwood Day Nursery in Gloucester had been reviewed and “did not constitute an assault”, meaning the threshold for prosecution was not met.

No arrests were made and the case is now closed.

The nursery temporarily shut earlier this month after Ofsted suspended its registration on 13 October, stating at the time that it believed children “may be at risk of harm”. The education watchdog confirmed the suspension was lifted on Friday and said further details would be released in due course.

Partou confirmed the nursery re-opened today (Tuesday).
