A person has died after being found seriously injured on the railway tracks near Stroud station this morning (Wednesday).
Emergency services, including British Transport Police and paramedics, were called to the scene shortly after 10am. Despite their efforts, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement, British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just after 10am this morning near Stroud railway station. Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced deceased. The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
The incident brought all train services between Gloucester and Swindon to a halt, with Great Western Railway warning passengers of cancellations, delays and revisions. Disruption was expected to continue until at least 1pm while investigation work took place.
