Businesses still have time to apply if they are interested in the successful broadband voucher scheme, shop launched in April this year.

Beginning in Gloucester, the offer has been extended to include Cheltenham plus certain urban and business/trade park post codes in Tewkesbury, Stroud, the Cotswolds and the Forest of Dean.

The government scheme has no confirmed date to end, but it is expected to be sometime this month.

To apply, businesses should visit www.connectionvouchers.co.uk and enter their postcode to check their eligibility.

Gloucester City Council manages the scheme, offering businesses a voucher of up to £3,000 to cover installation costs. Businesses can apply as a group to connect bigger or more complicated premises.

Charities, not for profit organisations and commercial landlords can also apply. A total of 168 vouchers have been issued so far.

The vouchers also cover home connection if this is the main base of work. Once installed, organisations pay the line rental and VAT.

Cllr Paul James, Leader of Gloucester City Council said: “We are thrilled so many businesses were interested in this scheme, taking advantage of the funding on offer to install superfast broadband connections.

“These connections can transform businesses by boosting communication, productivity and innovation which ultimately leads to growth, and of course it’s great to see all the local councils working together to make the funding available right across the county.”

Businesses can then choose a supplier and fill in an application form, or pick an off the shelf deal with no forms to fill in.

All vouchers issued will be honoured, provided installation is completed by 31st March 2016.
