Last February the city centre venue installed a digital upgrade in its 100-seater independent cinema, viagra buy phasing out the age-old 35mm reel projection.
Now, online phase two of the digital upgrade project has been completed after the instillation of the very latest satellite technology.
The advance means the Guildhall can now screen the likes of the New York’s Metropolitan Opera, stuff Britain’s National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) totally live right here in the city centre.
Chloe Homer, programming and marketing officer, said, “It’s a really exciting time for cinema at the moment and we’re thrilled to be able to get involved with these live screenings.
“This recent advance in technology has made culture in general so much more accessible and it’s now easier than ever to enjoy these high-quality events no matter where you live.
“Keep an eye on our listings for future additions to the programme, and don’t forget we have a car park right next to us which is free after 5pm, and a bar too!”
This technology also means the Guildhall has the option to show the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and ballet from the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, as well as big-name performances closer to home such as the recent best-selling Billy Elliot musical, this year’s Monty Python reunion and educational shows live from the British Museum.
Cllr Paul James, Leader of Gloucester City Council said, “The latest satellite technology is a welcome addition for the Guildhall, bringing world famous live shows to the centre of Gloucester.”
Live screenings already on the calendar include RSC’s Love’s Labour’s Lost on 11th February and The Merchant of Venice on 22nd July, and also the critically acclaimed Man and Superman starring Ralph Fiennes on 14th May.
