Forest of Dean District Council is inviting local residents to the third Newent Town Team event on Tuesday 19 August 2014.
The meeting is open to individuals, diagnosis businesses and groups with an interest in the future of Newent and its surrounding area. This session will focus on:
- Obtaining support for the Newent Initiative Trust to become the body for a Town Team to work with or decide who will set up the appropriate organisation needed
- Attract additional interested people to create the Town Team in addition to the four who volunteered support at the May gathering
During the event there will be updates from the Local Action Group and the Newent Initiative Trust.
Roger Beard, Mayor of Newent Town Council said: “This event is the next step in the formation of a Newent Town Team to help protect the future of the town and its surroundings. The organisers were really pleased with the response from the local community at the second meeting in May and I would encourage people to come along to this third meeting and get involved.”
Norma Hurrell of All Seasons Delicatessen and Cafe and Chair of the Newent and District Business Club said: “The Newent and District Business Club is delighted to be actively involved in the Town Team initiative and looks forward to attending this third event to take the Newent Town Team initiative forward and start tackling some of the important issues raised at the previous events.”
The Town Team meeting will be held on Tuesday 19 August 2014 from 7pm – 9pm at Newent Memorial Hall, Market Square, Bury Bar Lane, Newent GL18 1PT. Doors will be open from 6.30pm.
The District Council will be facilitating and supporting the event in partnership with, Newent Town Council, Newent Initiative and the Newent and District Business Club.
