Tetbury’s newest district councillor has welcomed its newest resident, says Councillor Laura Hall-Wilson after the birth of her son Bertie.
Cllr Hall-Wilson and her husband, Tom welcomed a son, on Saturday June 28 at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, weighing a healthy 7lbs 8oz.
She was elected to represent Tetbury with Upton in a Cotswold District Council by-election on May 1 while just over seven months pregnant.
Her election means the number of Conservative councillors has risen to ten.
The night before Bertie was born, Cllr Hall-Wilson says she attended the opening of the new community building in Tetbury on the recreation ground and Bertie conveniently made his arrival the next day, during the day on a Saturday.
Cllr Hall-Wilson said: “We are over the moon to have welcomed Bertie into the world, joining our family making Sidney a big brother.
“I feel very lucky to have had a healthy pregnancy and to have been able to campaign, be elected and carry out my duties as a councillor around my pregnancy.
“I said when I was elected, I hope I can be a role model to other women looking to enter politics and show that there is no obstacle to wanting to stand.
“Everyone at Cotswold District Council has been very welcoming to me and very accommodating. I look forward to introducing everyone to Bertie soon!”
