Cheltenham residents are invited to lace up their walking shoes and join Walk for Cobalt, a fun community walk celebrating Cheltenham while raising funds for people affected by cancer, dementia and other life-changing conditions.
Taking place in the heart of Cheltenham, Walk for Cobalt is the perfect opportunity to enjoy quality time with friends, family and like-minded people while exploring the town’s vibrant and historic streets. Participants can choose between a scenic 5km route highlighting some of Cheltenham’s most iconic landmarks, or a slightly longer 7km route for those wanting a bit more of a challenge.
The walk will begin at the historic Linton House, where participants can register and enjoy a free cup of tea or coffee before setting off. Along the route, walkers will be supported by friendly Cobalt volunteers at rest stops including The Wilson Gallery and Cheltenham College Chapel, ensuring everyone stays on track and enjoys the walk.
You don’t need to be super fit or fearless to take part, Walk for Cobalt is open to all ages and abilities. Simply sign up, gather support, and help raise funds for Cobalt, a local charity that has been supporting people affected by cancer for over 60 years.
Adding to the occasion, The Mayor of Cheltenham, Councillor Dr David Willingham, will be at Linton House during registration (10-11am) to welcome participants and wish them well before they set off. The Mayor said, ‘I am delighted to support one of our local charities at their annual walk and I am looking forward to meeting participants as they set off. We don’t always take time to appreciate and see the hidden gems of our historic town.’
Walkers are encouraged to take the route at their own pace, soaking up the atmosphere before finishing by 2pm at The Exmouth Pub on Bath Road, where refreshments and music will be waiting to celebrate a great day out for a great cause.
