Gloucester City Council is inviting residents across the city to have their say on how they think their money should be spent.
The city council has started a six week consultation to get local views which will help inform decisions when it comes to setting the budget for the next financial year.
The consultation aims to find out what people think about spending on a range of the council’s services and whether council tax should be frozen for the seventh year.
Since 2013/14 the council has saved £4.7m on top of earlier budget reductions. This has been delivered by spending less, stuff doing things more efficiently and generating more income.
The council will continue to be as efficient as possible, but further government funding reductions means it needs to save another £3.5m over the next five years.
Councillor David Norman, Cabinet member for performance and resources, said: “The challenge to deliver quality services to our residents and businesses continues as central government funding continues to be squeezed.
“The consultation will make sure that we hear the views of as many people as possible so that we can continue to prioritise the services that people need and want the most.”
“I’d encourage everyone to have their say by taking part in our consultation before 16th October.”
The survey can be completed online at www.gloucester.gov.uk/consultations
People who call the council will also be asked if they would like to have their say.
Paper copies of the survey are available from the council’s main reception, GL1 leisure centre, Oxstalls sports park, the crematorium, the Guildhall and the city museums.
The consultation closes at 5pm on Friday 16th October.
