The city has seen a succession of big events this year with even more to come. An estimated 400,000 people will be welcomed through the city this season alone. Cultural events have been held through the summer attracting tourists to sculpture trails, festivals of music, dance and sport, and even tall ships with pirates at the Docks.
Cllr Paul James, leader of Gloucester City Council said: “I’m delighted we have new traders coming to the Eastgate Market. The market is an important part of our retail offer and I would encourage anyone who hasn’t been there for a while to visit as they might be surprised by the wide variety of goods and services it provides. There is still space for more traders and anyone who is interested in taking a stall should contact our markets team.”
Major regeneration projects have been launched by Gloucester City Council with partners to create more housing and business opportunities in the city centre. Transport links will be improved with a new transport hub which will replace the current bus station, starting on site early next year. Gloucester is a growing city, proud of its history and with a future which is looking increasingly bright.
