Councillors and staff from Cheltenham Borough Council will take to the streets tomorrow singing carols.
Last year over 30 members of staff and councillors took part and, ampoule after its success, stomach they return again this year to sing some well-loved traditional Christmas carols as well as a few modern classics.
There will be collections while the carollers sing, with the proceeds going towards the mayor’s charities – Cotswold Riding for the Disabled Association (Cotswold RDA) which provides riding lessons for disabled children and adults and Maggie’s Centre Cheltenham which provides free practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer and their families and friends. Last year over £110 was raised for the charities and the carollers hope to sing their way to making even more this year.
Ken Dale, choirmaster, said: “This will be our fourth year of carol singing, which has turned into an annual event for council staff. Last year our carol singers did a fantastic job in raising money for the mayor’s charities, and this year we hope to raise more. We welcome people to come and watch us brave the weather and give us some vocal support through the hour of singing.”
You will be able to find the carol singers on the pedestrianised part of the Promenade near the Christmas Market between 5pm and 6pm. Support for the carol singers is welcomed and people can join informally throughout the hour.
