Cheltenham Borough Council have announced that fifteen community-based organisations have secured funding to deliver youth work through the Positive Activities Fund.
The fund, buy which Gloucestershire County Council has allocated £50, viagra order 000 towards, seeks to ensure that young people can access activities that make a positive difference to them, their health and wellbeing and the communities they live in.

The Everyman Theatre for ‘On the Up’; a creative project that will involve a life size board which, facilitated by theatre practitioners, will be played by Year 9 pupils (13 and 14 year olds) in small groups of up to 30 young people. The game will involve a mix of discussion, role-play and multimedia interaction that will present positive role models and develop realistic aspirations. By making choices and interacting with the game, young people’s horizons will be broadened and their confidence and self-esteem developed.
Art Playground who create interactive art projects and places. The funding will be used for Create & Make; a weekly opportunity for young people aged 11-18 years to take part in creative arts, design and craft based activities on a drop-in basis. Although traditional arts activities such as drawing, collage and crafts will be included, there will also be opportunities to explore more unusual and creative activities such as creating giant cardboard sculptures, interactive art or video installations. Young people will be able to contribute their own ideas and to help plan and manage two public showcases of their work throughout the duration of the project.
For Cheltenham & District Sports Association for the Disabled the funding will be used for their Have-Go-Club; a multi-sports club for young people aged 8-18 years with disabilities. It provides them with a variety of sports to try under qualified supervision.
Youth and Community Services will use the funding to deliver much valued outreach work for young people living in the Granley and Benhall areas.
Councillor Rowena Hay, cabinet member for healthy lifestyles, commented: “This is the fourth year running Gloucestershire County Council has provided this funding to support positive activities for young people, which will be delivered by voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations. We were really impressed with the range of projects put forward and are delighted to be able to support a number of projects that will benefit young people.”
